About the kernel

Thirty years of making the right security technology accessible in markets that need it most.

The Kernel is a specialist cybersecurity distributor with deep expertise in identity, authentication, and security operations. We are not a generalist. We chose a focus and we stayed with it.

Our Mission

Deliver great technology to high-growth markets.

Most cybersecurity distribution companies are volume businesses. They carry hundreds of vendors, compete on price, and measure success in transaction counts. The Kernel was built differently. We chose to go deep rather than wide: to become genuine experts in a focused area of cybersecurity rather than a catalog of every product available.

Our focus is identity, authentication, and security operations. Everything we carry, everything we know, and every relationship we have built over 30 years points in the same direction: helping organizations answer the question of who should have access to what, and making sure the answer is enforced and audited correctly.

We build trust with our clients by providing security solutions in authentication, authorization, identity management, PKI, and cryptography. We build trust with our partners by adopting emerging technologies, growing key markets, and committing to long-term support and collaboration.

VAD

Value-Added Distributor. Not a box mover. Not a price comparison. A team that understands the technology deeply enough to recommend, implement, and support it.

How we operate

Five principles that guide everything we do.

01

Recognize, then realize

We seek out emerging technologies, identify every potential for cybersecurity, and once verified, make it accessible to organizations in our markets who would otherwise not find it.

02

Teach, then guide

We share knowledge simply and effectively. We tell the whys before showing the hows. We guide at the start of every engagement and throughout, not just at the point of sale.

03

Provide, then protect

We implement solutions and stay connected so our customers always feel protected. We are not a vendor who disappears after deployment. Our clients know we have their backs.

04

Build, then grow

We build relationships that benefit our vendors, channel partners, and direct clients. We develop markets and commit to mutual growth, not short-term wins.

05

Create, then foster

We build a community of like-minded individuals and organisations: a network of people who believe that the right security technology, properly deployed, makes organizations and societies safer.

Our history

Three decades of building something you can trust.

2000s

Founded with a clear focus

The Kernel was founded on the conviction that identity and authentication would become the defining challenge in enterprise security. We established ourselves in the Middle East market before cybersecurity was a boardroom conversation.
2010s

Building the regional network

We expanded our channel partner network across the UAE, GCC, and wider MEA region. We added offices in South Africa and Ukraine to serve growing markets in Africa and Eastern Europe. We established relationships with specialist vendors before they became well known.
2020s

Recognition and portfolio expansion

Pointsharp named The Kernel Distributor of the Year. We expanded our portfolio to include application security, DMARC automation, password management, and SIEM.
Today

12 vendors. Three continents. One focus.

The Kernel distributes 12 specialist vendors across the Middle East, Africa and CIS. We have prevented more than 35,000 cyberattacks across our client base and counting. We continue to evaluate emerging technologies to keep our portfolio relevant to the threats organizations actually face.
Our team

Cybersecurity experts. Distribution specialists. The Kernel is both.

Our team is built from people who came from the security industry, not from sales and logistics. We carry certifications, attend technical events, and understand the products we distribute well enough to advise on architecture decisions. This is what we mean when we say value-added.

01

Technical advisory

Our team can evaluate vendor technologies, design solution architectures, and support technical proof-of-concept deployments. We are not purely a sales function.

02

Training and enablement

We run training sessions for channel partner sales and technical teams, and for end customers. Knowledge transfer is part of every engagement we undertake.

03

Post-sale support

We stay involved after deployment. Our regional presence means you have a team who knows your environment and can respond when things need attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Kernel has more than 30 years of cybersecurity distribution experience across the Middle East, Africa and CIS. Three decades in markets where adoption is slow and trust is hard-won is why the model rests on long-term vendor and partner commitments.

The Kernel is headquartered at 2216 Churchill Tower, Business Bay, Dubai. Two further offices operate in Johannesburg, South Africa, covering sub-Saharan Africa and SADC, and Kyiv, Ukraine, covering Eastern Europe. All three work to one service standard.

The Kernel was founded on the belief that organisations in the Middle East and Africa deserve the same quality of cybersecurity expertise available anywhere else. In practice: bring emerging technology into high-growth markets, train the partners deploying it, and stay involved past the sale.

The Kernel has been named Pointsharp Distributor of the Year and recognised by governmental entities across the region. These reflect depth of partnership rather than resale volume — consistent with a narrow portfolio receiving concentrated attention.

The Kernel works with more than 200 channel partners — resellers, integrators and consultancies — across three continents. These are long-standing relationships, not a registration list, so a vendor joining the portfolio inherits a network that already trusts the distributor.

The Kernel's customers concentrate in financial services, government, healthcare and critical infrastructure. These sectors carry the highest identity assurance requirements, and are where PKI, privileged access management and phishing-resistant authentication are mandated rather than optional.

The Kernel provides technical services alongside distribution: assessment, solution architecture, deployment and integration support, personnel training, and ongoing support as requirements change. This engineering-level involvement is what separates it from a fulfilment-only distributor.
